Aim
During a day’s (6.5 hours) interactive theory training, delegates will aim to gain an understanding of microbiological risk assessment, associated legislation, spill training and containment principles – up to Containment Level 2.

| Microbiological Risk Assessment | Containment Principles Personal Protective Equipment Waste Disposal Accidents & emergencies | Presentation with handouts. Practical ‘workshop’ session. | Delegates will be given the information and knowledge to complete dynamic microbiological risk assessments. This is a key skill to understanding work with biological agents. |
| Accident & emergency procedures | Accident and incident scenarios | Workshop and role play followed by group discussion | A variety of accident and incident scenarios will be worked through. These give delegates confidence in their ability to respond to an incident and an understanding of the impact on the group, BSO, organisation and stakeholders if an incident occurs. |
Outcomes
Laboratory staff will have a greater understanding of the Health and Safety principles involved when dealing with incidents with biological agents. Also to have gained confidence in their ability to deal with work activities associated with biological agents. All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
