Training Services

The following training services are the most usual that are provided by us:

  •  One Day Biological Safety Awareness course - gives delegates an overview of the key elements of biosafety with theory and practical. This is now available as a remote course consisting of 2 x three hour sessions.
  • Containment level 2 - a two day course containing theory and practical's covering ACDP 2 and ACGM class 2.  
  • Containment Level 3 - this is ACDP 3, SAPO 3 and ACGM class 3 and is a four day course containing theory, practicals and accident scenarios, based in your facilities tailored to your requirements and can include laboratory, animal and plant practices. This course was also run at the HSE laboratories, Buxton up to 2018. In 2021 this course will be run at LMB, Cambridge from 4th to 7th October.

 

  •  Containment for engineers - a 1.5 day course aimed at engineers, maintenance staff to give a greater understanding of microbiology and containment issues. This can be tailored to your specific facility and requirements. This is also now available as a remote course of three sessions.

 

  • Accident scenarios - one or two days to equip staff with the knowledge to deal with biological incidents in their facility. this can be tailored for facilities eg laboratories, animal facilities or personnel eg first aiders.

 

  • ISTR Accredited Biosafety Practitioner (Level 1) training -Level 1 ISTR Practitioner registration can be gained by successful completion of all units by delegates who also have two years' relevant experience.  The four-day course comprises 10 units covering the following areas: roles and responsibilities; legal aspects; disinfection and sterilization; waste disposal; transport of hazardous materials; hazards and risks; genetic modification; plant, equipment and its servicing; facilities and their design; laboratory management; biosecurity; policy and documentation development; auditing and inspection; influencing skills; incident and emergency procedures; occupational health; health surveillance; immunisations and learning and development. The dates for 2021 are now full. Dates for 2022 are the 14th to 18th March 2022, September dates TBC. Webster's Biosafety can also run this course on your site.
